El país del Licancaur - ENGLISH !!!

EL PAÍS DEL LICANCAUR

"El País del Licancur" was written between the months of May and September of 1986. First the original one, of 150 pages, was presented/displayed in October of 1986 to diverse editorials.

In June of 1987 the original one in clean finished to double-spaced and a face, quick being fotocopy. The final result reached the 220 pages. In July of 1987 one appeared two literary aids.

During the summer of 1987 it was taken to a pair of literary agents.

In September of 1987 it caught the attention of one of the literary agents. Finally, the agency decided not to represent the work.

Later they did not become to make more managements with the work.

In August of 2006, after seeing 1ª "Lost" Season of the series (Lost), of the North American channel ABC, it is discovered that the script of the series has certain similarities with the work. The first delivery of the series is dated in 2004.

In September of 2006 the work is digitized and it comes to the correction from small defects from style and other errors, without modifying no original aspect of in the free one from 1987 neither doing added nor modifications.

In October of 2006 definitive form occurs to the work and it becomes to try his publication.

COINCIDENCES EN SERIES LOST

"El País del Licancaur" is a novel that has still not been published, although was presented/displayed to literary editorials, agents and aids. Until the summer of 1987 its publication was being tried and it consists to us that the work provoked a certain interest.

The similarities between "El País del Licancaur" (1986) and the script of 1ª Season of "Lost" (2004) could be described, like minimum, of "mysterious". To ours to understand, a confluence of ideas with so many similar details as far as characteristics of the personages, elements of the plot and singularities of the story can cause stupor.

Although at first the appearances of both stories are different, "El País del Licancaur" and "Lost" looks like in four essential points.

- First, the adventures and misfortune of the survivors of an isolated flight accident in a remote place are narrated.

 - Second, the lives passed of the personages receive protagonism through flashbacks who have their incidence in the plot.

 - Third, in both narrations events take place spectacular, mysterious, atypical and rare.

 - Quarter, agrees in a Pleiad of "small details" that seems impossible can be happened to him to two people to the unisonous one or at different times.

In all the others, the novel and the series do not look like in anything. The novel is a brilliant work of satirical humor with spectacular turns and a sense of brilliant jokes and the series is only a culebrón = (chained history that never finishes) history dramatic enough childish ("infantiloid" it would be the exact word) that can bore mortally to any minimumly demanding spectator.

To speak of "plagiarism" without tests would be a recklessness. In Literature (ergo "cinematographic script") it is necessary that somebody copies of literal form a complete paragraph of a work so that it is accused of plagiarism. The ideas are free and each one can shape them as it comes to him in desire. But when so many details concur in two stories with the same base and the same narrative method the reasons for the suspicion happen of gaseous state to solid in a second.

The facts are those that are. An all-powerful channel of American TV is being covered with ideas that are not absolutely original. And meanwhile, an anonymous writer who shaped the same ideas 20 years before sees as its work, to day of today, is without publishing.

We detailed all the similarities so that you prune them to judge by you yourself:

01 - SYNOPSIS

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: Flight accident in a remote place, without more or less immediate possibilities of rescue, in extreme circumstances.

LOST: Flight accident in a remote place, where soon it begins to be evident that they will not be rescued. The situation begins to be desperate of immediate way.

At the present time, the original stories known based on a flight accident with isolated survivors are the following ones:

1 - "The Lord of the flies", novel of Robert Goldwin (1954)

2 - "The flight of the Phoenix", novel of Elleston Trevor (1963)

3 - "¡Viven!", (Alive!) story of Piers Paul Read, based on real facts (1973)

4 - "El País del Licancaur", novel of Pere G. Torres (1986)

5 - "Six days, seven nights", film directed by Ivan Reitman (1998)

6 - "Lost ones in the Amazon", series of TV of Peter Benchley (1999)

7 - "Cast Away", film directed by Robert Zemeckis (2000)

8 - "Lost" (1ª Lost Season), series of TV of JJ Abrams (2004)

9 - "Vuelo 1503", series of TV of the Channel Colombian Caracol (2004)

"El País del Licancaur" (1986) and "Lost" (2004) only includes "strange phenomena" in the narration, to the margin of which they would be the own stereotypes of a story of adventures and survival.

02 - LITERARY SORT

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: Sarcastic comedy, adventures, science fiction, critic.

LOST: Drama, adventures, mystery.

Peculiarly, which the novel has of sarcastic, the series has it of dramatic.

03 - SCENE

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: A summit of the Andes, exactly just as in the 1972 accident.

LOST: A remote island of the Pacific.

On the matter it is possible to say that to locate a story in a lost island of the Pacific it does not have anything of original. To the margin of the stories of shipwrecks of last centuries, modern Literature and the cinema have created stories of isolated people in islands of the Pacific in industrial amounts. As far as novel, could to say that it is inspired by the flight accident of 1972 in the Andes, that is not a literary work but a real history, but is not thus. There is no intention to do parodia of the facts of "Live", not even to make black-humor. After the accident a pair becomes of jokes on the subject, in the line of scary movie, with the deliberate intention of which the public will recognize those tics immediately. In all the others "El País del Licancaur" is not looked like "Live" in nothing.

04 - NUMBER OF PROTAGONISTS

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: The total number of survivors - and protagonists- is of 22.

LOST: In the series (Season 1ª) they survive 48, but the main protagonists, add, also, a total of 22.

This subject has provoked controversial, but the count exhaustive and is well elaborated. Throughout the novel, until in the final chapter it appears a group of individuals with a concrete mission, the protagonists are 22. Protagonist means all that that in a while given they locate in first plane of the story, according the second meaning of the word admitted by RAE (Real Academy of Spanish language) It is obvious that some of the personages will have more protagonism than others, thing that happens in both stories. In 1ª Season of the series, until in the final chapter they appear men in a boat, the number of personages with protagonism is of 22. And if we told the dog, the number is of 23. Therefore, both stories have in common a similar number of personages who single are themselves altered in the final chapter with the appearance of new personages.

05 - NARRATIVE METHOD

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: The story of the present facts is interrupted with flashbacks of the previous life of the personages. Each chapter is dedicated to a personage and the circumstances of which they are in favor in the airplane. The retrospective ones, in some cases, do not have relation with the present facts. In others, yes they are related.

LOST: Exactly equal. The only difference is that flashbacks of the personages is appearing randomly, alternating itself based on the present facts. Previous histories have relation with the present facts to a large extent.

In fact, the narrative method based on flashbacks where the previous life of the personages becomes wire of the present facts is traced. No other story of survivors of an isolated flight accident of the civilization includes east narrative method. Only "El País del Licancaur" (1986) and the "Lost" series (2004)

06 - AMNESIC PREGNANT GIRL

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: Shortly after crashing the airplane it is discovered that one of the survivors undergoes a great commotion. She is a young girl, of long hair blond, enough pija (pija = posse), that suffers amnesia. Later, due to his relations with one of the survivors, it remains pregnant.

LOST: One of the survivors is a young girl, of long and blond hair. At the moment of the accident she is pregnant. After suffering mysterious a kidnapping, it suffers amnesia.

Attention with the detail: neither the more nor less than five (5) exactly equal characteristics of a personage, in a story based on a flight accident in a remote place, with equal number of protagonists, where the narration with flasbacks is adorned. Peculiarly, in the novel the blond girl and pija (posse) pregnant one remains amnesic later first and. In the series it is the other way around.

07 - POSSE GIRL

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: The amnesic girl is a baby of papa, capricious and of voluble character, whose greater feat in the life is to have burst in into a swap-meet hippie with a car to 50 km per hour. She is studying philology of the native languages of the Indians of the Patagonia.

LOST: Another one of the protagonists is allowed, voluble a baby pija (posse), and capricious, also blond, whose greater feat in the life is to have coiled with whichever types are crossed in its way. It studied in his day French language.

On the matter it is necessary to clarify that the characteristics of Shannon and Claire, personages of the series, are reunited in the novel in a single personage.

08 - DRUGS/DRUG CONTRABANDS

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: One of the personages is a drug dealer who takes in his luggage 4 kilos of cocaine paste .

LOST: One of the personages takes a stock market with heroin. In another one of the chapters they find a small plane where there is a drug contraband .

This is a similarity that would be in the limit of the recurrence. That is to say, to two authors it is possible to be happened to them to locate a personage who takes drugs with himself in an airplane trip. However, it hits that in the series is later a contraband, thing that also happens in the novel. In the series, the contraband does not have entailment with the drugs that Charlie takes for own consumption and in the novel the contraband is the same one that transports the dealer.

09 - NARRATION OF THE MOMENT OF THE ACCIDENT

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: The accident takes place after the visit to the washbasin of one of the passengers, whom a collision with one of the stewardesses has .

LOST: The accident takes place just when one of the crew, visibly nervous, goes to the washbasin to administer a dose of drug. At the moment at which the airplane part in two, the passenger is being persecuted by a stewardess.

In this aspect, it is possible to emphasize a few essential points. If we take the elements of the scene, are exactly identical. Just at the moment of the accident, there is a conflict between a passenger and the stewardess, with the cabin of the washbasin like recurrent element. In the novel, the stewardess exactly equal of is altered, shouting by the corridor, because a discussion between two passengers has arisen and because, a moment later, another one urges on to him with the door in the noses when washbasin leaves. In any case, if the novel were taken to the cinema we would contemplate to two very similar scenes as far as elements and momentum of combat operations.

10 - VISIONS, AUGURIES, PREMONITORY DREAMS

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: One of the personages of the novel has the faculty to glimpse the future and constantly suffers distressing visions that go ahead to the present facts.

LOST: All the story is plagued of revelations, visions and predictions on the part of many of the protagonists.

This it is an aspect which we will analyze shortly of exhaustive form, reviewing the first season of Lost.

11 - PHANTOM APPEARANCES

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: To one of the personages it appears to him a phantasmagoric subject once in a while that always him send the same message.

LOST: One of the personages is assaulted during a chapter by the constant presence of the ghost of its father, recently passed away, who has a message that to transmit to him.

Incredible! As much in the novel as in the series, cradles both in a flight accident where the survivors are isolated, take place appearances of phantoms that have a message that to transmit. There is no other story of the same characteristics where that happens.

12 - GAMES OF CHANCE GAINED MYSTERIOUSLY.

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: One of the personages has a mysterious life in which they take place incomprehensible lapsus. It disappears of a place and it appears suddenly in another one without apparent reason. Whenever it happens, it gains a succulent prize: quiniela, (=drawing with sport results) lottery, casino, etc, of mysterious form.

LOST: One of the personages has gained a multimillionaire number in the primitive lottery (=combination of 6 numbers in a block of 49) The fact is not free of mystery since it has done it by means of a combination of numbers that obsessively repeats the internal one of a psychiatric institution.

It is of most normal that two narrators, with 18 years of difference, shape in their stories a coincidence like this, what doubts fits. Neither the more nor less than a personage than it gains prizes of chance by arte de birlibirloque (=when a thing happens through inexplicable mysteries) That is without a doubt one devises more "recurrent" that can be happened to him to anyone, and when a story of 22 survivors of a flight accident is writing that has been adorned with flashbacks, where are an blonde-pija-pregnant-amnesic girl that studies languages, drug contrabands and "mysterious phantom appearances". It is necessary to see that so peculiar chances, right?

Then you hope that now "still more happy chances" come.

13 - GAFE (Person who brings and causes bad luck)

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: One of the personages has a very special particularity: he is gafe. His capacity to cause the bad luck comes given by an agent from its organism that produces bad luck to his around. In fact, this gafe is the direct cause of the accident.

LOST: One of the personages is created gafado because of a prize of the lottery that won mysteriously. In certain form person in charge of the accident feels and gets to declare that since won all that money has become gafe.

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: One of the characteristics of gafe of the novel is its extreme thinness.

LOST: The reviewable characteristic of gafe of "Lost" is its exaggerated obesity.

Another which had at random chance without a doubt. It is of most habitual than two narrators of different times agree in introducing gafe in a story on isolated survivors of a flight accident in a remote place. If to it we added flashbacks to him and the boy-young person-blonde-pregnant-amnesic one that studies languages, the found drug contrabands in the place of the facts, the phantom appearances, an a person that gain prizes of chance by mysterious methods and a scene of accident with traced elements, all it is by chance, ladies and gentlemen.

On the matter it is necessary to emphasize two details, not to weaken the facts. In the novel, of coherent form, gafe has a fundamental paper in the plot, because he is the direct person in charge of the accident. In addition, he is not he who gains a prize of the lottery, but another personage. It is a total absurd to think that gafe can be seen attractive with a pile of money, although later is cause of the greater misfortunes. In the series, totally inconsequent form, gafe only leaves in one flashbacks. The history of his "gafery", after gaining a prize of the primitive lottery by mysterious methods, remains there: one more an anecdote with the one than to extend the duration of the series with incongruity of extreme degree that later do not have any importance.

In any case, two new elements that unite novel (1986) and series (2004): the existence of gafe and prizes of chance that gain by the face. They are without a doubt things that happen every week, specially between the groups of survivors of isolated flight accidents in remote places. It is what has the "chance".

Like curiosity, to emphasize a new inverted scheme between novel and series, since the physical features of both gafes are opposed than it is possible to be imagined.

14 - PERSONAL REVENGES

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: One of the personages is a parricida assassin  and. It is looking for by all South America to a partner who swindled to him to stick a beating to him. In another dialogue, chapters later, express their intention to kill it.

LOST: One of the personages is a type related to the world of the delinquency. It returns from Australia because it has completed his revenge against a type that swindled and caused the death of its parents, to who has assassinated.

Attention to the similarity between these two elements. In the novel there is a personage who assassinated his father, received an indemnification and later it was swindled by an Argentinean, which motivates its trip to Buenos Aires to take revenge itself of him.

In the personage of the series, the elements "swindle", "it travels" and "revenge" is reunited with all precision. In case outside little, both personages, who travel in the occasion of a personal revenge, are orphaned of father, and the death of the same one has relation with the reason for its trip. In order to finish off the facts, since the novel is a comedy and the series a drama, the personage of "the Country..." goes towards his destiny to complete his revenge whereas the one of "Lost" returns after it to have completed. Another script with inverted elements that does not come if not to spill more controversy to this long series of "coincidences".

15 - FAILED MUSICIAN (Person who fails in her musical race)

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: One of the personages is a singer of slight music whose race is on the verge of finishing. It is making a tour by South America and many concerts have had to suspend by lack of public interest del. Its record company has broken and their discs are sold less and less.

LOST: One of the personages is the guitarist of a group of rock of certain success. Its race is in critical moment to finish by problems with drugs and the refusal of its brother to continue with the group. It is thinking about recording a disc in solitaire, but its race is not clear.

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: Seeing clear that its failure in the world of music will take place of imminent form, the singer of the novel thinks to mount a store of eatable or a telephone tarot where she will operate his divinatory virtues.

LOST: Completed its failure like rock guitarist, Charlie tries to leave ahead like salesman of printers.

As it is possible to be seen, two personages who, in spite of being different, maintain several points of connection. Both have as common profession music and both see as its race is on the verge of concluding. Assumed their failure, both look for an exit in other professional fields. In a new invested scheme, the personage of the novel-comedy is a woman and the one of the series-drama is a man, dedicated both to radically different musical styles.

If we added this new "coincidence" to story with same base + same narrative method + equal number of personages + pregnant and amnesic girl pija blond + drug contrabands + games of chance gained + mysteriously gafe + types that travel by personal revenges motivated by a swindle + phantom visions and appearances = chance?

16 - CENSUS/IDENTIFICATION CARD

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: In a while dice considers the fact to send a card to have identified all the survivors.

LOST: Before the possibility that there was somebody, mysteriously it did not travel in the airplane, one of the personages writes up a census from the listing of passengers of the airplane.

In both stories dice appears in a while the necessity to have identified and registered the survivors. In the novel it is for acceding to the status of citizen of a new nation and in the series because they suspect that there is an intruder between the group of survivors. In any case, two near elements that we must add to the others. There is no other story with the same base that includes the identification of the survivors by means of a census.

17 - FUGITIVE OF JUSTICE

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: The main protagonist of the novel is a fugitive of the justice that is intensely being looked for. At the end of the novel she is stopped by a judge of monetary crimes.

LOST: One of the main protagonists of "Lost" is a fugitive of the justice that travels lengthy in the airplane, in company of a judicial agent.

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: One of the personages is making a journalistic investigation on a fugitive of justice and has the hope to identify to him, to capture to him or, like minimum, to get to meet itself with him. Towards the end it is able to unmask to him, without certain not malentendidos (question badly understood) throughout the plot. The suspect tries to flee through a sounding parked in geostationary orbit.

LOST: One of the personages suspects that the fugitive of the justice, that traveled in company of a judicial agent, is between the survivors. Towards the end of the Part 1ª is able to unmask its attempts of falsear its identity and fleeing in the raft.

Although in this point there are certain distances between the novel personages and series and on the circumstances that determine to them, the small details returns to interconnect stories both. In a new invested scheme, in the novel the fugitive is stopped in the end, while in the series the fugitive travels lengthy. Both try to flee and are unmasked. In the novel the personage is masculine and in the feminine series.

18 - BOYCOTT TO RESCUE WORKS

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: All the actions whose purpose is to accelerate a possible rescue hit the opposition of one of the passengers, fugitive of the justice, that does not have interest some of which they find him. When it is tried to signal to an airplane that happens, it threatens to the others pistol end. When several survivors organize an expedition to lower of the mountain, she plans a plot to prevent it.

LOST: Diverse initiatives to try to leave the island run into mysteriously with the opposition of somebody interested in that those initiatives prosper. When he tries himself to organize a system of transmissions to detect a SOS signal, the Arab personage receives a blow in the head. When they construct to a raft with which to try to escape of the island, somebody pledges fire to him.

It is of most normal that, when you crash with an airplane in a remote place, somebody sabotages all whichever beams to try to leave the isolation. "El País del Licancaur" (1986) and "Lost" (2004) is the only stories where that happens. In the novel it is by coherent reasons whereas in culebrón it is due to the fear of a boy to remain without a father who is going to see his match of beisbol Saturday by the morning (sic)

19 - GUNS &  EXPLOSIVES

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: In agreement it advances the plot of the novel and they are defined the relations of being able between the survivors, mysteriously appear pistols, machine guns, grenades, bazookas and other arms.

LOST: The fight to have a weapon is an urgent necessity from the beginning of the story. The revolver that takes with himself the judicial agent turns an object very coveted. Before the necessity to open the hatchway of a mysterious one to bunker buried in the forest, they find dynamite in the rest of a galleon in the middle of the forest.

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: At first, he appears a single one to turn around, that he is the one that the protagonist uses to intimidate to the rest of the passengers. In the development of the later chapters they will be appearing more arms: machine guns, grenades, bazookas, mortars and until a tube that it disintegrates the countries.

LOST: In principle, the only firearm is to revolver (pistol) that it took with himself the judicial agent. With the course of the time 9mm with its respective ammunition appears a briefcase with pistols. It will not be the only armament that will find: later also they will find dynamite.

Another "mysterious" coincidence between both stories. Peculiarly, as much in novel as in series the tensions that take place between the personages they must to the control of basic resources (water and food), but by another type of questions. In both stories there is one first weapon that becomes wished object and in both they appear other arms later. Nor that to say it has the armament of the novel is very many the more original.

20 - AMPUTATIONS OF MEMBERS

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: Due to the intense cold, to one of the survivors they must to him amputate the finger of a foot.

LOST: Due to an accident, to one of the personages they must to him amputate a leg.

It does not have anything of individual that in a story of survival after a flight accident to a personage they have to him to amputate some member of its body. This it would be the example of a "recurrent element" of any story of these characteristics. However, it is possible to emphasize that no of the two amputations is direct consequence of the accident. In the novel it is because one lady has spent the night to the flat one to 30º below cero and in the series by an incident very subsequent to the moment for crashing the airplane.

21 - PERSONAL DIARY?? DAYBOOK??

(when a person writes intimate notes in a notebook)

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: One of the personages writes a personal newspaper that serves as wire between the protagonist and her enemies. The newspaper is read, without remorses, on the part of the bad one of the novel.

LOST: The embarrass-amnesic girl has a personal newspaper that reads, with certain remorses, the ruined musician.

Another element that, without a doubt, appears in all the stories on flight accidents. In addition, in both stories, the "diary" is read by an other people's person. In two inverted schemes more, that the newspaper writes in the novel is a man and in the series a woman. In the novel the newspaper is read of immoral form and shameless and in the series that does it feels remorses. More chances? At the moment already 21 goes, of that only 5 can be given like recurrent elements of a story of these features.

22 - JOKES WITH HUMAN REST

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: In a while of the narration reference to the clipped ears of the victims is made, who appear on the snow aligned in rows of a three.

LOST: One of the graceful moments of the series comes when the obese personage, who feels a tremendous aversion by the blood, denotes that another one of the personages has a piece of human meat upon the shoulder. "You have a piece of X", says with a tremor.

An element can be considered recurrent that, in the middle of the greater one of the misfortunes, somebody makes use of the sense of humor. Segun says to me, black humor is a very old British tradition.

23 - TO KILL THE FATHER

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: One of the personages is a parricida (person who kills her father) It killed to his father to him to have baptized with a humorous name that has not made another thing that to cause misfortunes to him during all its life.

LOST: One of the personages lives an inner torment since it was forced, by honor, to end the professional race of its father, to whom considered an incompetent one. This incapacitation leads the father, without remedy, to a dissipated life that finishes in suicide. In certain form person in charge of the death of his father feels, although car-she is exculpated of all it, because she considers that it was his obligation to denounce the facts.

This is reference distant, but element fits to do it to consist to enter new repeated, that is not other that both stories is a personage who is responsible, by active or passive, of the death of its father.

24 - ACTION TO POISON

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: One of the protagonists poisons its father.

LOST: In one of the episodes of the series they try to poison to one of the personages in the middle of a dispute on that must go in the raft.

It is not that it has a very direct relation, because both actions to poison take place in very different circumstances and planes diametrically opposed. But, in any case, a new coincident element.

25 - RAMBO

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: One of the personages has a certain similarity with 'Rambo. To thus it nicknames him, even, the local press of his town. The references to 'Rambo', in the novel, have a graceful and/or offensive connotation.

LOST: One of the personages of the series has a certain similarity with 'Rambo'. In at least one occasion it is described like 'Rambo' by some as the survivors with a clearly offensive intention.

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: The 'Rambo' of the novel knows to make traps for wild boars.

LOST: The 'Rambo' of the series feeds surviving thanks to its ability to hunt wild boars by means of traps in the forest.

According to certain experts inform into culebrón dramatic this similarity would not exist, since in the original version in English, the Rambo of "Lost" is one parody of a personage of "Apocalypse Now" and not of the own Rambo, and therefore all our theories on Rambo would not be another thing that a distortion of the version in Spanish language. (It will be necessary to see it, clear...) However, the similarities between the personage of the novel and the one of the series exist, being a "todoterreno" (person or thing who adapts to any circumstance), customary to the survival in inhospitable places and expert in hunting wild boars by means of traps.

26 - DOCTOR

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: Between the survivors there is a doctor who dedicates itself to the parapsicology. When there is a problem of health between the survivors, he is he who tries to solve it.

LOST: Between the survivors there is a doctor who dedicates itself to the medicine.

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: Another one of the personages also is a surgeon, specialized in the extirpation of useless appendices.

LOST: The doctor of the series is surgeon.

In both stories there are personages who have the title of medicine doctor and they dedicate themselves to the surgery. He is not that it is a particularly hiriente coincidence, but in any case is necessary to point out it to add it to the rest.

27 - SYSTEMS OF COMMUNICATION OF THE SHIP

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: In the novel it is tried to send a SOS through the systems of communication of the control room of the airplane. The systems, unfortunately, have been totally made unusable.

LOST: In the series it is tried to send a signal of SOS through the systems of communication of the cabin. Although the systems seem to signal certain, the attempt finishes being useless.

An example of which it would be a recurrent element of any story of these characteristics. He is something that would be happened to him easily to whatever a similar history wrote. In "They live", that it is a narration based on real facts, the protagonists are themselves forced to go to look for a battery, that she is elsewhere of the mountain, essential to put into operation the systems of communication of the ship. If it cannot put itself in contact with the rescue teams, that they have given them by "lost".

28 - FLARE SOS

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: At the beginning of the story a flare SOS is sent found between the rest of the warehouse.

LOST: In different episodes from the series flares SOS are sent found between the rest of the apparatus.

Another recurrent element of any story of these characteristics. In "Six days  seven nights", for example, there is a graceful incident with a flare SOS. It is not an excellent detail, but one more a demonstration of as the "recurrent ideas" they are possible to be happened to him to anyone whereas other ideas (because somebody gains a prize of the lottery by "mysterious" methods, for example) are inconceivable.

29 - COMPASS

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: In one of the chapters of the novel there is a peculiar incident with a compass that does not work, since instead of indicating the north, it indicates SSO.

LOST: In the series it is verified that, due to strange electromagnetic interferences, the only compass that have been able to find it does not serve for anything.

One ignores if between the equipment of an airplane compasses can be found, aside from which they comprise of the control panel of the ship. In any case, it is possible to also state this coincidence, since in both stories is a compass that, by different reasons, is useless.

30 - BONFIRES

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: With so preventing that they find them, the protagonist of the novel prevents at all costs that bonfires ignite.

LOST: All the nights ignite bonfires to facilitate that they can see them from the air.

To ignite a bonfire is one of the first elements that are happened to him to whatever a story of a flight accident with isolated survivors writes. In "The Lord  of the flies" (1954), that is one of the first precedents, the bonfire that do the children at the top of a risk is on the verge of causing a forest fire. This example was considered as "ridiculous" on the part of any fan of culebrón, but is put here to put record of a new inverted scheme: in the series bonfires and. In "El País del Licancaur" ignite, no.

31 - PROVISIONS

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: The provisions of reserve of the flight and the found ones between the luggage are exhausted in a few hours.

LOST: The provisions that have been able to find between the rest of the airplane finish hardly in two days.

It is another recurrent element of a story of these carcaterísticas, but, attention, the count and the perception of the eatable ones with which it is arranged are identical as much in the novel as in culebrón.

32 - LUGGAGE

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: One of the first initiatives after the accident is to throw a look to the hundreds of suitcases of the passengers of the airplane.

LOST: During the first hours they review to whichever objects has in the luggage of the passengers.

Another common element of all story of survival of these characteristics. Only a small detail: to the delay to do an analysis detailed of the scenes in which the survivors of "Lost" inspect of the suitcases of the passage, we would be speaking of two scenes in exactly equal novel and series.

33 - FACTIONS

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: Once it is become evident that their littler possibilities of being rescued are every day, take place divisions between the survivors. They appear diverse factions among them. They are favourable to try a dangerous reduction towards valleys. Others wish to assassinate the protagonist. The conformist faction, however, pleads to found one nation on the place of the accident ... factions: 2, of second leave one third...

LOST: In agreement it is become evident that will not be rescued they are taken place divisions between the survivors. Before the difficulty that represents the water provision some are in favour to be transferred to caves near a fresh water spring. Others, however, remain in the beach because they understand that thus its visualization will be easier and rescues. Between these last ones another faction arises who pleads to risk to construct a raft with which to leave the island ... factions: 2, of second leave one third...

Another traced coincident scheme even in dynamics and the intentions.

34 - ROBBED CLOCK

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: To one of the personages him they have robbed the clock in the days previous to the trip. The author of the robbery is an Algerian.

LOST: There is a dispute between two personages because one of them thinks that the other has robbed him the clock. The supposed author of the robbery is a black.

One more a small coincidence, without too much importance, but indicative of which the flow of small similar details does not stop.

35 - SYNCHRONOUS CLOCKS

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: In order to be able to program a previous meeting to plan to flight, several personages synchronize their clocks.

LOST: In order to be able to carry out a plan to unfold diverse antennas with which to detect a signal of SOS, several personages they synchronize his clocks.

Another repeated scene, although in novel and series the reasons by which must synchronize their clocks is different.

************************************************************************

At the moment we have not seen still any chapter of the second season of "Lost", in spite of having all the chapters in DVD. It is a very boring series, of schedule of Maxima hearing, that does not resist the test of any demanding spectator who looks for televising programs of quality. But they inform to us that in one of the chapters they appear by spell art commercial products (essentially foods) labeled under a mysterious called mark "Dharma". If this is therefore we would be before a new coincidence or, rather, a super-mega-archi-coincidence.

We are going to add it so that it is not said:

36 - MYSTERIOUS COMMERCIAL MARKS IN THE PLACE OF THE FACTS

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR: In order to choke a hunger strike that threatens the political stability of the new country, the leader of same ingenia to be made appear by art of spell thousands of articles of different types (specially foods) from a mysterious trade name.

LOST: According to the information that arrive to us from episodes of other seasons of Lost, in the series also they appear by magic art consumption articles (specially foods) of a mysterious called mark "Dharma".

What doubt fits that this is another idea the sea of original!

(Also we have seen that the title of one of the chapters makes reference to "psalms", with which, happily, we would be with another "mysterious" element that will come to fatten this long list of coincidences. If, because one of the features of one of the personages of "El País del Licancur" is that it goes the day singing "psalms")

TO BE CONTINUED....

ANOTHER FLIGHT ACCIDENTS

Next we presented/displayed a detailed relation of all the stories (novels, films and series) that we have been able to find, based on the premise of a group of survivors of a flight accident in a remote place without rescue possibilities. The stories are ordered chronological to give a diaphanous dimension of the historical evolution of this sort of adventures.

With this one relation we are going to demonstrate that "El País del Licancaur", novel written in 1986  and "Lost" series of 2004, is both only stories of these characteristics that, to the margin of the typical elements of a situation of extreme survival in a remote place, include "mysterious" facts and "strangers" or "rare".

There am the relation here:

THE LORD OF THE FLIES (Novel)

Author: Robert Goldwin (1954)

In the heat of World War II, a group of children crashes with an airplane in an island of the Pacific. Very soon they begin to accept that they are not going to be rescued. It is a classic story of adventures where different problems from survival are narrated which they are arising with time. The group of children finishes divided in two factions who struggle of extreme form by the power. One of them becomes a group of primitive hunters with a degree of savagery very accentuated. The only "reviewable mystery" in this story is in the imagination of the group of hunters, who think that in a cave he inhabits a monster that never gets to leave her.

THE LORD OF THE FLIES (film)

Director: Peter Brook (1963)

Cinematographic adaptation of the novel of Robert Goldwin. Reflected of trustworthy form the original narration.

THE FLIGHT OF PHOENIX (Novel)

Author: Elleston Trevor (1964)

An airplane crashes in the heat of desert of the Sahara without the survivors can be rescued. Very soon they are with a very deep dilemma. Their alternatives of survival happen to allocate their forces and provisions until the arrival of the rescue teams or exhausting them quickly trying a reconstruction of airplane. In the end they are decided by the second, understanding that she is the unique one via leaving the desert, since it is clear that nobody is going to come to rescue to them. It is a story of adventures plagued of the own elements of tension of a situation of extreme survival. Some is no "mystery" throughout the plot nor element that leaves the cliche of a story of those characteristics.

THE FLIGHT OF PHOENIX (film)

Director: Robert Aldrich (1965)

Cinematographic adaptation, a year later, of the novel of Elleston Trevor. It is an overproduction of 20th Century Fox with a distribution of luxury in which it is possible to honor to the actors James Stewart, Richard Attenborough and Ernest Borgnine, among others. The script of the film exactly is traced to the one of the novel and locates the action in a remote place of the desert of the Sahara. At any moment the narration is fitted to the net exigencies of a story of adventures. At no moment events outside normal nor "the mysterious" things happen.

¡VIVEN! LA TRAGEDIA DE LOS ANDES (novel)

Author: Piers Paul Read (1973)

Cradle in real facts. An Uruguayan airplane that traveled to Santiago of Chile starred in the Andes in October of 1972. In spite of the violence of the accident there was a quite important number of survivors, who, by means of a small radio found out the news that the rescue tasks giveave. Faced a devastating panorama, with 30º below cero at night, without hardly provisions nor forces, they had to face extreme circumstances. In spite of to have survived the consequences of a violent landing and the extreme characteristics of the climate, the survivors still will have to surpass harder tests. One night, a snow avalanche suddenly invades the interior of the compartment of the airplane where they took refuge, ending the life of at least four or five people. Nevertheless, the most visceral connotation of this narration is based on which the survivors had to eat crude the meat of the deceaseds to be able to survive "Live" it is without a doubt the most heartrendering and bleeding story of this saga, due to his condition of historical. By discounted, in the plot there are no "mysterious" element nor circumstances no other people's to which prevails in a story of the purest survival.

WITHOUT TITLE (Script series TV)

Author: Anthony Spinner (1977)

Anthony Spinner is a television scriptwriter that the 19 of August of 2005 denounced to the ABC chain by presumed plagiarism and contract breach. Apparently a script for a series of TV wrote on a flight accident in a desert island of the Pacific, where a series of survivors must face all luck of dangers in the jungle. For want of more data, we included in this relation so that it is left that the "brilliant scriptwriters of Lost clear, able to create thousand histories" neither are so brilliant nor so original.

EL PAIS DEL LICANCAUR (Novela)

Author: Pere G. Torres (1986)

Sarcastic Literature. It narrates the eventful journeys of a many-colored group of personages who survive a flight accident in a top of the Andes. It is not a survival story nor narrate adventures in extreme circumstances. Quite to the contrary: once solved the initial problems, after the accident, the survivors are kidnapped to end of pistol by an individual that does not wish to be rescued. Its pretension is to form a nation in that latitude of the Andes. The events, as of that moment, will hurry towards a rocambolesco scene (= absurd & surrealistic) where any thing can happen. In fact, the most unimaginable events happen in that place of the Andes. The survivors will be rescued at the end of the novel, but not by who they hope... They will be "The Others"?

THE LORD OF THE FLIES (Film)

Director: Harry Hook (1990)

New cinematographic adaptation of the novel of Robert Goldwin. One does not leave the original script.

ALIVE! (Film)

Director: Frank Marshall (1993)

Brilliant adaptation of the facts occurred in the accident of the Andes in 1972. A film that shapes with singular hyperrealism this history based on real facts. The images of the impact of the airplane on the mountain are simply impeccable. The characterization of the personages is done with a very careful. The photography of those natural, crude and impressive scenes, is wonderful. The public can see in this film the reality in pure state "Live" it is the only real precedent of modern aviation where the survivors were not rescued. By discounted, the film turns aside an apex of the original story neither includes "mysterious facts" nor appear "the others".

SIX DAYS, SEVEN NIGHTS (Film)

Director: Ivan Reitman (1998)

Semi-romantic comedy where a robust pilot, carried out by Harrison Ford, and a young enough blonde pija dedicated to the world of the fashion (Anne Heche) has an accident of small plane in a desert island of the Pacific. Thinking that they have crashed on the sea, the services of rescue give by finalized the search few days later. Both surviving they remain in the island without possibilities of being rescued. After a few scenes of tangle where both personages happen of the initial antipathy to the love in pure state, they are able to dismount of the glass of a tree an old Japanese hydroplane of II the World war, of which they take advantage of his floaters to add them to the rough small plane. They are able to escape of the miracle island, since they have run into with a species of modern pirates who travel in a yacht equipped with a tube to send mortar projectiles. The script of this film has certain similarities with "The flight of the Phoenix", since they must "reconstruct" the airplane. And "Lost" also would have certain similarities with her, given to the agreement of scenes and the fact that its survival is threatened by "others".

LOST IN THE AMAZON (Series TV)

Director: Peter Benchley  (1999)

He in the heat of deals with a plane crash Amazon which six people survive. They are given by dead after a few weeks search. Between the survivors there is a doctor, a singer of opera, a pija-diva and an obese personage. The survivors face cannibal tribes who harass them, and strange beasts like carnivorous ants and pirañas (= very voracious carnivorous fish) that eats to a man in a matter of seconds. During the chapters any exceptional fact, unless does not happen, between the many dangers which it must face the group of survivors it finds a species of "sect" of people of white race that is isolated of the civilization. Not, it sounds "to the Others". The "Others" of "Lost", clear.

CAST AWAY (Film)

Director: Robert Zemeckis (2000)

A systems engineer must undertake trips, often without previous warning, to distant places. Its frenetic existence stops abruptly when the airplane in which it traveled and it becomes I am shipwrecked in a remote island, isolated crashes more of the world in the surroundings desolated than it is possible to imagine. Undressed of the comforts of the daily life, it must take care of in the first place his basic necessities of survival: its priority is to look for water, food and a ceiling. This personage, whose profession consists of solving problems, has to learn to solve one high-priority one: its physical survival. During the narration any fact "mysterious" nor other people's to which does not happen is possible to imagine in a story of adventures and survival.

THE FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX (film)

Director: John Moore (2004)

A new adaptation of the novel of Elleston Trevor. This time, the facts are developed, not in the Sahara, but in the desert of the Gobi. The narration is not turned aside essentially of the original script if it is not because the existence of  nomads is added who harass the survivors. Like in "Six days and seven nights", they are able to escape just of the place with the airplane reconstructed at the moment at which the nomadic tribe arranges itself to pursue to them. To the being of the same year that the first season of "Lost", we ignored if the film is previous or later to the series. In any case it is possible to emphasize some details it jeopardize. In the film a certain personage with similar leaves with the Arab "Lost" that the Spanish version has shaped with identical accent. In addition the personage has a very remarkable physical similarity. Some of the scenes of the film present/display a "picture of group" with poses very seemed. By discounted, that tribe of nomads is "the others", uncomfortable intruders located in a hostile scene. But that original is "LOST"! Is possible to review that in all the film it does not appear no "mysterious" element nor any other circumstance other people's to a story of survival in extreme circumstances.

LOST "LOST" (Series TV)

Director: JJ Abrams (2004)

Insuffrable culebrón where a group of survivors of a flight accident must face all type of adversities after a flight accident in a desert island of the Pacific. In spite of "so original" starting very soon they are whereupon, aside from the own problems of survival of the situation, they must face all type of mysteries, removed from the hat of the turn scriptwriter, often without no concert nor coherence. An example: in order to attract a farm dog towards the group of surviving humans it is necessary to make a whistle ultrasounds. An absurd one more between an innumerable set of incoherences. The lives passed of the survivors, shaped by means of flashbacks sometimes "no consecuence" and in absolutely tedious others, try to give an explanation to the present facts. Any person with a moderately critical criterion will be able to realize of which they are not more than a superfluous adornment with which to extend culebrón several "seasons" and to more give to thus eat a hypnotized and little demanding public. It is obvious that with 25 chapters she was enough to explain history. Lost, in this sense, not difference in anything of historical others culebrones like Falcon Crest, where the script does not have a continuity in the time and it is based so single on "tensions" of precise type that ten minutes later already have been forgotten. If this relation of stories based on flight accidents has been where the survivors are not rescued, everybody will be able to perfectly realize a few clear fact. First, which to locate a flight accident in a desert island of the Pacific she is as old as, for example, "Robinson Crusoe". The second, that no other story of the same characteristics (with the exception of "El País del Licancaur" written in 1986) adds extraordinary and "mysterious" elements to the narration, to the margin of which they would be the own eventful journeys of the survival in a remote place. Third, that to threaten the security of the survivors the existence of a strange group of "others" is not an original idea either. The quarter, that no story of these characteristics adds flashbacks of the lives of the personages, with the exception of "El País del Licancaur", novel written in 1986.

VUELO 1503 (Series TV)

Production: Channel Caracol (2004)

Colombian Culebrón arisen to the heat from "Lost", that incredibly has been accused to be a plagiarism of the North American series (laughing). An airplane crashes in the forest without immediate possibilities of rescue. In him three delinquents travel whom they kidnap to the survivors. Between these there is an actress, a narcotics trafficker and a student of drugs, arms and robbed money. En the development appear. They do not appear "mysterious" elements.

SURVIVOR (Reality-Show)

Author: His father will know it (2004)

The reality-show that treats on people catched in an island, adapted in Spanish like "Supervivientes". Many have described to "Lost" of a serial version, which already is for laughing more & more.
